Just read an interesting article about TV and movies giving bad expectations for relationships – and causing people to expect more, and want to be single the more they indulge in the romantic televisions and movie fantasies. Of course this makes sense to me, and I am glad to see another author bringing this, and having a recent study to shed some more light on this subject.

Cheating, Relationships News 05.01.2012 Comments Off on ABC GMA features 2 men and a woman as modern family polyamore household
Checking stories on yahoo today led me to some news videos and I saw one about “2 men a woman and a baby – a modern family” – so I had to click to see what it was about. They were doing a story about a polyamorous threesome, I think they called a thrupple (trying to put together three and couple I guess). So it was a household with one woman in a relationship with two live in men, and a baby she had with one of the men.

Dating Technology, Science of Dating 19.02.2011 Comments Off on OKcupid data mines users’ surveys – couples answers in common
So I was lured into this OkCupid thing by a story at lifehacker. It basically said that online dating site OkCupid dot com had established three simple questions to have in common with someone you want to be compatible with. So I read the little story, and came back to it later, doing more research on Ok cupid.

Dating Technology 24.01.2011 Comments Off on Zoosk study: UK singles comfortable using technology while dating
a recent study commissioned by zoosk! online dating shows that a good percentage of singles in the UK are quite comfortable using technology like text messages, emails, and online dating sites to connect with other singles in the dating scene. Most surprising to me is the percentage of people who said they are quite comfortable sharing some personal information out on the open internet for the world to see.
Sending naughty or nude photos seems to be the norm amongst a majority of the women surveyed:

I am pretty sure the article was about some guys that got together and filed a lawsuit against the dating site amateur match.

Breaking Up 21.11.2010 Comments Off on Still dating, we both know the end is near – breaking up is hard to do
So we’ve been dating for a few years and overall things are great. We are getting along, and both happier with each other than we have been in most, if not all of our past relationships. We both know the end is coming soon though, and it made me wonder how hard it must be for couples who know that their dating is coming to end, and when it’s not about one person who screwed up or hates the other. This kind of breaking up may be the hardest to do.

Not sure that this will stick, I myself am not a big fan of the word “chexting” – sounds to me more like serving up cereal than being descriptive of text-cheating. None-the-less, national news stories are talking about chexting, and linking this term to Tiger Woods and Jesse James (the guy that is currently married to Sandra Bullock). I am a big fan of the word sexting, as it is descriptive; texting sex. i am pretty sure that sexting will stay in our vocabulary for years to come.
