So we’ve been dating for a few years and overall things are great. We are getting along, and both happier with each other than we have been in most, if not all of our past relationships. We both know the end is coming soon though, and it made me wonder how hard it must be for couples who know that their dating is coming to end, and when it’s not about one person who screwed up or hates the other. This kind of breaking up may be the hardest to do.

Sending a break up email? It’s a sign of the times, more and more people are breaking up via text messages, emails, im, myspace and facebook mail these days. Sometimes writing a good break up email can be harder than breaking up in person, face to face or on the face. After all, when you are talking to someone, they can hear your pauses, your sadness or nervousness and other audible cues. When you break up in person, the face to face cues about sorrow and regret, or lack thereof can be obvious. When you break up via electronic communcation many of these audible and visual cues.
Lovers turn to text message to say it’s over
LONDON (Reuters) – U R dumped — one in seven say they have suffered the same fate as Britney Spears’ ex-husband and been told it’s all over via text message or email, a survey said Friday.
While hiding behind technology might appear a cowardly way of splitting up, it contrasts with the four percent who simply drop all communication with their lovers without notice.
“Most of us send emails and texts everyday, so it comes as no surprise they are now being used to ditch someone — however distasteful this is,” said Rob Barnes from moneysupermarket.com, which carried out the survey.
So what do you do, or really, how do you do it? I will be making another post about when or why on this subject. But let’s just say that you’ve made the decision to go exclusive, to tell the other people that you are dating that you are going exclusive with someone else. What is the best way to do this?
