I wonder what rituals everyone engages in before a date. Generally I look at everyday as the possibility for a date, or to meet someone to setup a later date with, so some of the pre-date rituals are kind of a standard thing for me… deodorant, shaving, decent clothes, breathe mints, those kind of things are part of my daily rituals. But what about the things we do that are extra when going out with someone we are trying to get more and more intimate with?
Some of the things that come to mind right away include extra grooming, like looking for a stray ear hair or something that would become noticeable when someone else is really close. Any nose hairs or blemishes should dealt with as well. Sometimes if I think a date may go all the way I will pay trim the pubes and shave any areas that I can make time for. When going out with someone I also consider what underwear and other things could come into view should things go well, and choose attire accordingly.
I imagine if you’re driving you may spend some time cleaning the car, and perhaps get a gift or flowers or something. Of course not all of things can get done before a big date sometimes, but there are times when I wished I had spent more time preparing for possibilities. There is nothing like getting to the point of you need a condom and not having one. So condom checks should be added to my dating rituals I suppose. What other rituals do people do when dating?
